MergeTree Family

TL;DR

The MergeTree family shares the same physical layer (parts, indexes) but differs in merge behavior. MergeTree is general-purpose, ReplacingMergeTree deduplicates, SummingMergeTree pre-aggregates sums, and AggregatingMergeTree handles complex aggregations.

All MergeTree engines share the same physical layer (parts, indexes), same indexing (primary key indexes and marks), and same replication (can be replicated or distributed). What changes is the merge behavior: how parts are combined when merges happen.
